At the 8th China Bamboo Culture Festival held in Huangshan City, Anhui Province, Zhang Yongli, deputy director of the State Forestry Administration of China, revealed that at present, the area of bamboo forest in China is 6.01 million hectares, and the area of bamboo forest, bamboo accumulation, bamboo product output and export volume ranks the world. First, bamboo processing technology and bamboo product innovation capabilities are at the advanced level in the world.
China is one of the countries with the most abundant bamboo resources and the longest bamboo cultivation history in the world. Zhang Yongli said that in recent years, China has insisted on developing the bamboo industry as an important task in building modern forestry and promoting green growth, and has made remarkable achievements. The bamboo forest resources continue to grow, the bamboo industry continues to grow, and the bamboo culture industry is increasingly prosperous. The bamboo industry has become an important starting point for the bamboo producing areas to adjust their economic structure, transform their development methods, increase farmers' income, and promote forestry “double increase”. At the same time, the application space of bamboo products in China is also being expanded from traditional bamboo buildings, bamboo tools, bamboo gardens and bamboo musical instruments to modern bamboo building materials, bamboo furniture, bamboo fiber and bamboo crafts.
The results of the eighth national forest resource inventory showed that China's bamboo forest area totaled 6.01 million hectares, an increase of 11.69% over the seventh inventory. In 2013, the national bamboo output was 1.877 billion, an increase of 14.17% over 2012; the total output value of bamboo industry was 167.075 billion yuan, an increase of 36.5% over 2012. According to the "10 Year Plan for Bamboo Industry Development", by 2020, the income of farmers in the bamboo producing areas will account for more than 20% of net income.
Zhang Yongli said that the bamboo industry is an eco-rich industry and a green recycling industry with huge development potential and broad market prospects. The State Forestry Administration will continue to regard the development of the bamboo industry as a powerful starting point for further implementing the national policy of supporting agriculture and benefiting farmers, and solving the problems of agriculture, rural areas and farmers. As an important way to promote the preservation and appreciation of rural business assets and increase farmers' income, it will be used as a new way to cultivate rural areas. The economic growth point and major measures to promote the comprehensive development of the economy and society.
